I’m only here to see out my days, as budget cuts in the prison service mean that outsourcing hospice care becomes essential. Not that I’m any threat to anyone and they know it. But you can’t torture and maim and eventually kill two people in that grotesque manner and not be hurled into a dark corner to serve at Her Majesty’s convenience. I totally understand. I knew it before I did it. But after what they did to my little girl, there was no other path I could take. I knew and accepted my punishment before I finished saying the words “yes, that’s her” and left that fucking grey room at the back of the police station. Every single night since then I’ve closed my eyes and watched her dance in the garden, in the sprinklers and the sunshine and rainbows.
